A Change is Gonna Come !

HIP CHICK ALERT PUTS THE SPOTLIGHT ON SAM COOK!

Fifty years ago this week, Sam Cooke strolled into a recording studio, put on a pair of headphones, and laid down the tracks for one of the most important songs of the civil rights era!  A Change is Gonna come.

Sam was an American recording artist and singer-songwriter, generally considered among the greatest of all time. Cooke had 30 U.S. top 40 hits between 1957 and 1964, plus three more posthumously. Major hits like “You Send Me“, “A Change Is Gonna Come“, “Chain Gang“, “Wonderful World“, and “Twistin’ the Night Away” are some of his most popular songs. Cooke was also among the first modern black performers and composers to attend to the business side of his musical career. He founded both a record label and a publishing company as an extension of his careers as a singer and composer. He also took an active part in the Civil Rights Movement.  I am a big fan of all singer-songwriters.

Rolling Stone now calls “A Change Is Gonna Come” one of the greatest songs of all time, but in 1964 its political message was a risky maneuver. Cooke had worked hard to be accepted as a crossover artist after building a sizable following on the gospel circuit. And the first thing to know about the song, Cooke biographer Peter Guralnick says, is that it’s unlike anything the singer had ever recorded.

“His first success came with the song ‘You Send Me.’ I mean, this was his first crossover number under his own name, and it went to No. 1 on the pop charts, which was just unheard of,” Guralnick says. ”  As he evolved as a pop singer, he brought more and more of his gospel background into his music, as well as his social awareness, which was keen. But really, ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ was a real departure for him, in the sense that it was undoubtedly the first time that he addressed social problems in a direct and explicit way.”

Dig it dig him!

Trump is planning to "renovate" the Kennedy Center Trump is planning to "renovate" the Kennedy Center. Which means, in his inimitable showing of his consistant lack of good taste, destroying the wonderful Edward Durell Stone designs, which are exemplary examples of mid-century design. I realize in light of everything else he's already destroyed and is wreaking havoc of our democracy, this may not seem like such an important issue, but it is indicative of how this Trump "a man called Sue" Because he likes to sue people left and right. is overstepping all the checks and balances which were in place, just to feed his indefatigable ego, amass absolute power and put his stamp on other's achievements. This latest plan is simply his childish revenge in response to the many artists refusing to perform in the newly renamed venue , Renee Fleming the national Opera. So many have denied and revoked playing there after Trump placed his name above Kennedy's name. Most artists think it's distasteful but he's done and refused to play there and good for them. This man should not do this To such iconic. Build. #midcenteryarchitecture #edwarddurellstone #sad #lostart #mentalmidget

Hôtel Chopin is a small, historic hotel located in Hôtel Chopin is a small, historic hotel located inside Passage Jouffroy, a covered shopping passage in Paris built in 1846. When the hotel first opened that same year, it was called Hôtel des Familles. It wasn’t until 1970 that it got the name Hôtel Chopin, in honor of the famous composer Frédéric Chopin. He used to walk through the area on his way to the nearby Pleyel piano showroom.

Passage Jouffroy is known for its beautiful glass roof, old shops, and peaceful atmosphere. It was one of the first passages in Paris made of metal and glass and quickly became a popular spot for shopping and strolling.

Hôtel Chopin has kept its charm for more than 175 years. Its wooden front is protected as a historic monument, and the hotel’s door has reportedly never been locked since it opened. Inside, the style is simple and classic, with a piano, a bust of Chopin, and cozy rooms looking over the rooftops of Paris.

Today, it’s one of the oldest still-running hotels in the city. Staying there feels like stepping into a quiet corner of old Paris, right in the heart of the busy 9th district
