featured film this month is Giant-Dig It!

April 30, 2015 by Perez Leave a Comment

I remember as my Auntie became older I gave her the gift of time – we try to give this gift to loved ones regularly but sometimes daily life gets in the way – when my Auntie hit her 70s I made a point to going to Mount Ivy in Pomona New York on weekends and spending time with her. She loved her black and white films (as do I ) I remember curling up with a blanket on a Saturday afternoon – drinking tea or brandy and watching films – so today’s feature – Giant is a 1956 American drama film, directed by George Stevens from a screenplay adapted by Fred Guiol and Ivan Moffat from the novel by Edna Ferber. The film stars Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean and features Dennis Hopper, Sal Mineo, Rod Taylor, like holy super stars! . Giant was the last of James Dean’s three films as a leading actor, and earned him his second and last Academy Award nomination – he was killed in a car accident before the film was released. All the acting is stellar and especially James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor -The plot focuses on themes of discrimination (race, class and gender) as it affects the social evolution of a Texas family over a quarter century from the 1920s until after World War II. These topics -discrimination (race, class and gender) are still reverent today.

In 2005, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant”. In the final scene back at the ranch, Bick Rock and Leslie Elizabeth watch their two grandchildren, one biracial (Jordy and Juana’s son), play in a crib and reflect on their life. Leslie tells Bick that she considered him to be her hero for the first time in her life after the fight in the diner, something he always tried to do with his ranching heroics. Reflecting on the Benedict family’s legacy, Bick views it as a failure because their lives didn’t turn out the way he planned, but Leslie considers their version of the family to be a success. The final shot pans to the face of each child, one white, one Hispanic, but both Texans. Dig It – if you have the time – this is a classic well worth time! Peace Perez

I was amongst the many who thought that Brigitte B I was amongst the many who thought that Brigitte Bardot was possibly the most beautiful woman who ever lived. But it’s what she did with her life that made her truly beautiful.

After leaving film in her late 30’s, Bardot dedicated herself fully to animal protection.

In 1986, she founded the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, using her fame to campaign against seal hunts, animal slaughter practices, and cruelty worldwide. She set up a foundation, which carries her name, dedicated to animal protection and held an auction in 1987, selling most of her personal belongings—from jewelry to dresses and old posters—to raise money for the foundation’s work.

“I gave my youth and my beauty to men, and now I am giving my wisdom and experience, the best of me, to animals,” Bardot told the audience at the auction. "I don't care about my past glory. That means nothing in the face of an animal that suffers, since it has no power, no words to defend itself."

“Human cruelty knows no limits and that one needs immense courage and a will of iron to help others understand that animals are made of flesh and blood like us, that they suffer the same pains as us, that they deserve the same respect as us and that their continuous slaughter should not be part of human entertainment.”

Rest in power Brigitte Bardot. With gratitude. ❤️ #bridgetobridge #animallover #alife well ❤️‍🩹 lived #truebueaty💕❤️😍

O Christmas tree, o cosmic tree 🎄 Located about O Christmas tree, o cosmic tree 🎄

Located about 2,500 light-years from Earth, NGC 2264 is a cluster of young stars between one and five million years old. The stars appear as blue and white lights surrounded by swirls of gas—the “pine needles” of the tree—with green representing light in the visible spectrum.

The image combines data from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and optical data from astrophotographer Michael Clow’s telescope.

I wish everybody an abundance of love and light d I wish everybody an abundance of love and light during the holiday season.
You going to see some images of New York places at 6:15 a.m. In the morning when the city is quiet and beautiful. Don't get me wrong. The city is always beautiful note, I am really enjoying my walks. In the morning when I walk to my new office, I'm walking 2 miles a day 1 mile to the office, 1 mile home. There are also some Sunday images right after the snowfall.Feeling very thankful. Remember this is the season of kindness and giving. Not shopping endlessly in malls. Stay hip. Stay well, stay healthy health, wealth and fitness. And here's to 2026.
